Norinco 1911A1 and modern ammo

I have two Norinco 1911A1s.

I have never fired hollow points from them and I was wondering if anyone has and if so, how did it handle them?

I am thinking about trying some HydraShoks.

I know the design was built for FMJ but just wondering, would it reliably handle HydraShoks.

Anyone tried?

OK With Hollowpoints

I have a Norinco- not a fancy finished firearm but absolutely reliable and accurate enough-I've fired everything in it-even some semi-wadcutters and no hiccups-I got rid of a Kimber and a Taurus 1911 because I couldn't count on them.I also have the Smith Sc1911-totally reliable and really accurate.

The Norinco is probably as close to a GI pistol as you can get and, like a GI pistol, its handling of other than ball ammo can be iffy. In my experience, most pistols can be worked over to feed about anything, but it can be tricky; sometimes you can get a pistol to feed brand X hollow points, then when you work on it to get it to feed brand Y it won'f feed brand X any more.

I have a Norinco 1911. The only hollow point ammo I've used in it is the Remington Golden Saber, which feeds with no problem.

Go and shoot. Comer back and tell us how it went.

By the way the fix so a older 1911 can reliably shoot jhp is fairly simple.

But go shoot first.

No problems

Tried HP's with no problems at all. However, I replaced the stock mags with Chip McCormicks since the original mags had feeding problems even with ball ammo.

I owned a Norinco 1911A1 for a couple years. It worked perfectly with anything I tried...JHP or FMJ. The OEM mag worked great, also.
My favorite aftermarket mags were made by Checkmate. They have a model with hybrid mag lips, extra power spring, and their proprietary follower...7rd.
They feed anything, and are reasonably priced.

I've fed mine three or four different hp's and all worked fine. It will even feed my short Lee 200 swc-tl without a problem.
