Arsenal good deal?

I have a guy that wants to trade me a good condition Arsenal SGL21, with 4 magazines (Pmags), and 100 rounds. For my Glock 21 Gen 4 with night sights and $600 on my end to him. Is this a good deal? Or could I get better? Research seems price this rifle is outstanding, just don't want a bad deal.

If it is indeed an arsenal it sounds to good to be true. But to some people its more about a value of usefulness rather than a value of money.

No.

I'm not sure what the Glock's precise value is but let's assume $400, plus the $600 cash. I'm sure you can find a serviceable AK for less. If you are willing to spend $1000 I'd still rather go with a Bulgarian Arsenal than with a fancy Saiga Conversion (that has a non standard, harder to replace bolt).

I'd offer 300? I do have an SGL-21 excellent AK but there are just as good very good alternatives out there for less.

What version of the 21 is it? Fixed or folder? If it is a folder then it's worth quite a bit more. If it's fixed just wait for the new arsenal bugly coming in for under 1k. Damn fine looking rifles.

Sgl prices shot up after the bans on Russia honestly probably not worth it unless you really want a Russian based AK. So many good AK options out there for sub 1k and that is for new not even considering the better used deals.

Depends on how bad you want it. That trade doesn't sound wildly unrealistic if you want the closest civilian rifle to an AK-103. The SGL-21 is pretty much at the top of heap as far as stamped AKMs go, and as long as Russian sanctions last, you won't be seeing any new ones (as they are essentially converted Saigas). As mentioned, folding stock variants are more valuable than fixed.

Your looking at close to 600$ after tax's alone for the g21 gen 4. PLUS 600$? Nope.I'd just drop 700$ on one of the new milled Century C39v2 Ak's that everyone is raving about and keep my glock. Im with the other poster who said glock plus 300$ sounds a bit more fair.

I'm not sure actually. These are blowing out the door for a smidge over a grand and this particular piece comes with four magazines and 100 rounds (~$70?) so it really depends on how far into the Glock you are. If it's a nice folder, it's worth even more. Now would I personally pay a grand for an AKM? Not in this lifetime.

The Glock plus $450 would be my limit I think. That puts you at the $900-950 range for a used Arsenal. Sounds fair to me.

Could sell the Glock and put some of your cash with it and get a new Vepr, Polish or DDI rifle. Check out Atlantic Firearms, lots of good options out there cheaper than an Arsenal.

The SGL-21 is a vastly superior rifle to the Century C39v2. One is a proven rifle made on the same line and with the same parts (including a cold hammer-forged barrel) as military rifles meant to be run hard, while the other is a price-point-driven hobbiest rifle meant to sell to civilian consumers. No comparison.

It's just up to the OP to determine if one is worth ~$1200 to him. There are other quality AKs that can be had for less (such as the VEPR FM-AK47-11 that runs around $1000).

The SGL-21s are some of the best AKs ever imported. For a glock and $600 you are paying a premium. I would shop around you can probably do better on something else.

@Fishbed77, I have not personally handled the century gun, but nutnfancy proclaims it king of all ak's, even above the arsenal. (His own words.) For whatever thats worth. The C39v2 also has a chrome lined barrel, is milled, nice furnature, and also has a cold hammer forged barrel. I believe you are mixing up the c39 with the WASR10, two completly different animals.

Oldbrowngun, the C39v2 has a 4150 steel barrel, melonited. It's the WASR that has the better chrome lined, cold hammer forged barrel.

From all reports, the C39v2 looks and sounds like a nice rifle, but I don't think it compares to an Arsenal.

Oh, it appears the v2 doesnt have the chrome lining of the v1. Interesting.

Frankly, nutnfancy is a poor source of quality commentary on AKs (or just about anything else for that matter).

You also seem to have your specs mixed up. The C39v2 has neither a chome-lined nor hammer-forged barrel.

The WASR, on the other hand does, and recent WASRs (from the past few years), while not the prettiest rifles, are recognized to be well-made, reliable rifles that can be run hard. Most folks who know AKs would pick a WASR in a heartbeat over any of the US-made AKs.
