u pick
Springfield xd 9mm or Glock standard 9mm. if these two guns were the only two guns left on the planet for sale which one would you buy for your wife/girlfriend? which one would you buy for yourself?
just been wondering for a while. i love them both but i am so split on which is better. and for what is it better.

I would go with the XD40, just because I am Glock'ed out. Had 2, great guns, but I really like the way the XD feels. Hard to explain, Springfield makes a nice gun and I have seen a number of them at the range. I am sure I am in the minority on this decision, oh well!

Just went through the same thing. She fired the Glock 19. Held the XD and liked it better. Now that she has shot the XD she knows she made the right choice.

Instinct prevails! Great gun. I enjoy my plastic Steyr, but a solid well made guns feels really good!

Never shot a Glock, but I would say that it would really really have to be an excellent shooting gun to top the XD... and it may be, but I don't know. I just got back from the range a few hours ago... probably the 5th or 6th trip with my XD-9 and I still can't get over how accurate that thing is for a 3" barrel! I shot tighter groups with it than I did with my Baby Eagle, it has a lot better feel to it than any other gun that I have fired and it has been 100% reliable thus far (put around 1000 rounds through it after today's trip to the range).
I have held both the Glock 26 and the XD-9 sub-compact (the one that I bought), and though the springfield is a bit more top-heavy, it felt so much more sturdy and well-built. I can't help but think that the fact that it's top is a bit larger than a Glock helps in the recoil.... as it has less recoil than my full size baby eagle. Bottom line: of all the guns that I have owned and shot, the XD-9 is by far my favorite and if the Glock is better than the XD, it isn't $50 better, which is the price difference between the two. |

XD may be a perfect pistol but the trigger reset sucks.
I side with the G17. The XD has no advantage over the G17 other than "feel" and "feel" is a matter of individual opinion. The G17 is possibly the most reliable pistol ever made. The XD is........................? |

Yep, Glock 17. Proven weapon. Durable. Reliable. What more can you ask for?
XD's seem to be proving itself as a good weapon as well. But I'll always go with what's proven and has a good track record under its belt if my life is on the line. The Glock 17. The Original. |

My Glock 17 has digested over 20, 000 rounds, and never missed a beat!
Have seen way too many XDs go back to springfield to feel comfortable with one.

XD period. Buy it, shoot it, and you'll love it. If you are worried about the finish, have it hard chromed and you'll still save money over a brand new Glock.

hehe good choice, BUY EM BOTH !! i like your way of thinking , now the nice thing is that at the range u can trade off and perhaps trade off carrying one or the other, learning to use both guns efficiently will be the best option, careful... u might find that XD ends up in your wifes holster... as she will probably like it more than the glock but who knows she might like the glock more... im personally not a glock guy, they feel weird in my hand and the finish makes em feel slippery to me... but thats me, u have to use what works best for you =) good luck, and good shooting !! ! |
