308 berdan SA 80/81

Anyone else reloading 308 berdan primed surplus with the Tula 7.62 berdan primers? Particularly the SA 80/81 cases?

Seems the Tula primers are "hotter" than the CCI 34's?

I do not think you can really compare a Boxer primer (#34) to a Berdan replacement primer in terms of how hot the primer is, because you will not be able to make all other factors equal.
1. You simply cannot put the #34 in the Berdan cases.
2. Assuming you pickup a LC to go with your #34 the structure and volume of the two cases will also vary.
3. The mechanics of ignition will vary, and probably dramatically, between a #34 flash through one big hole, versus whatever flash they need to set-off whatever through those two pinholes.

If you are getting good ignition, what's the problem?
#34's are considered to be a magnum primer, and are used by the military to ignite the Ball powders in use today.
