front sights, dovetails, barrel contours etc.
Hi...I am looking to put a peep sight on my Marlin 925 and I may have to replace the front sight too when I do that. My front sight is a single piece (ramp + sght) so it looks like I would have to replace the whole thing. Is it possible to find a ramp with a dovetail that I can fit? Online sources seem to sell generic ramps made for various barrel contours rather than specific models. Are the barrels all made to standard sizes? Do I just measure it will a caliper? Can someone educate me as to what my options are for changing the front sight? Thanks!

Williams, Brownells, and Midway is where I'd start.

Brownell's used to have a chart and instructions in their catalog to get proper height when ordering sights. I have not shopped with them for quite a while, but it used to be in the sight/ramp section.
