Gun training

I have an expert marksman when I was active Marine, but that was a life time ago. I am from new port richey, Fl and I want to sharper my skills as well as learn how to shoot under presser. hope there is someone around my town with the needed skills I want to learn.

Also expert but USAF. Picked up guns again 19 months ago. It all comes back..... Except without the M60.

Not sure I know anyone in that area, but if you're ever in Dallas........

I can't say what class or instructor to recommend down there, but after you refresh a little bit (expert marksman is in there somewhere, just dust him off) you might want to look up IDPA matches. It may not have existed when you were shooting more. Have a look at some youtube videos.

For a competition, the local matches are low key (think 5k races), some compete with their carry guns, and you do some defense - oriented shooting with cover/barricades, kneeling, turn and draw, etc..

Lots of fun.

Good luck to you, doubt you'll have trouble finding a good coach in the gun shine state.

Forgot to mention. Saw an older gentleman compete with a 1911 in 45 ACP. He did well, and it was easy for him to find his brass later. The only 45 in our squad.

Go for it. In our local matches - we have older marines who shoot quite well.

In fact, one is a champion and they are great guys.

I'm sure someone knows local quality trainers in that area.

There you go. Do that and compete and I'm sure it will be good!
