"blueing" brass?
Is it possible to blue brass so that it will match blued steel parts?
I have an Uberti SAA with a brass backstrap and trigger gaurd that I may want to do this to. If it is possible, is it as durable as steel blueing? |

Birchwood Casey makes a product called Brass Black.
If it does not work better than Aluminum Black, it will not be much help, but you could give it a try. |

BLUE BLACK:
Copper Carbonate 1 pound Ammonium Hydroxide 1 quart Water 3 quarts (Add the water after the carbonate and hydroxide has been mixed. There must be excess Copper Carbonate. Use at 175F. This color can be fixed, (made more permanent) by quickly dipping in a 2.5% Sodium Hydroxide solution.) |

Cold Blue will turn brass fittings black, after the factory laquer protective finish is first removed.
