Need a case for a puma .357 with 16 inch barrel

Hello all,

I'm looking to buy a case to carry a puma .357 lever with a 16 inch barrel. Problem is, all the cases I find look to be designed for a scoped rifle and a much longer rifle. Anyone know where I can find a case that fits this gun perfectly? Soft sided case perfered. Thanks

They're out there. Just call around and tell them trapper length winchester. What you've got is essentially a Win 92 trapper replica. Any case for a 92 (or 94 which most will relate to more) trapper or "short rifle" (16" octagonal also popular with CAS shooters) will work. If you still wind up with no bites, one for a "carbine" (typ 20"barrel) length lever action Win or Marlin is at least closer to your objective--and pretty common.

Thanks for the encouragement. Do you have any places or companys in mind. I have found many cases for 20 inch barrels, but have yet to find anything that is specifically for a 16 inch trapper. I'm still hoping and still looking. It's such a small handy rifle that I hate to buy a case that makes it much longer.

You would do well to understand the way case makers mark and market their soft gun cases.

You will waste a LOT of your time looking for a "Trapper" case or any other such name.

Soft gun cases are made/marked/marketed by their overall length in inches, like: 34"/40"/52"/etc.
The size is on every case label.

My new .357 Rossi 16" Model 92 measures 33 1/2" OAL, so (ergo) I would seek out a 34" case.
Your Puma should measure identically.

I use a soft/lined M1 carbine replica case ($20 from Sportsmans Guide, below) that's 36" long.

Wal-Mart worked for me. I bought 2. 1 for my M1 and 1 for my Mini-14. The rifles I have in between all work fine.

Petah W, how does the M1 carbine case work for you. Wish I had seen your post a day ago, I just ordered basically the same thing from cabela's but for quite a bit more than yours from sportsmans guide. How does it fit the gun? Any room for ammo? Pretty easy to fit it behind the seat of a truck? I found a post from cabelas of someone using it exactly as you are and they seemed to really like it.

Looks like a good option, I am looking forward to getting mine.
