First Try At An Avenger Holster For 1911
I've been playing with leather again and decided to make an Avenger style holster for my 1911 22. I had plenty of 4 - 5 ounce leather so I made my form using that. Next time I'll use 7 - 8 ounce for better stiffness. I used Neatsfoot oil instead of tan dye that I normally use just to see how it would work. I'm not totally satisfied. The oil didn't cover consistently and took forever to dry. I form fitted the holster in a vacuum bag which really helps. When it wa done I used TanKote to increase the shine and to add a little bit of stiffening to the holster. The gun stays put when on my belt. |
