what to do when you are working on your car
Not sure how I feel about this one, but it happened to me a few days ago. I was working on mine and my cousin's cars, and I had to get under both of them. I carry in a leather holster and I didn't want it scraping on the driveway along with my gun, also because I don't feel it is safe. Am I wrong? What to do about this? Keep it within reach but out of sight in the tool box?
I ended up putting it in the garage covering it and locking the internal lock but I am curious on what you would do with your gun if you were being a mechanic for a bit. |

Kahr PM9 in a pocket holster, in the (front) pocket of my coveralls.
Sometimes even the Kahr P45 in the same pocket holster, in the same coveralls. If I'm in shorts, the P45 IWB with a t-shirt covering it...of course, I use a creeper, so scraping the concrete isn't really an issue. |

1) Why are you so afraid of getting character marks on your holster and or your gun?
2) In what way do you consider it unsafe to have your handgun on while under the car? Do you train to draw & fire from odd positions - like under the car? If you are spending time there you might consider it another event to practice. stay safe. skidmark |

Lock the gun in the glove box then put it back on when you're out from under the car.

skidmark- i am not afraid of marks on my gun or holster. but why do it to either when you can avoid such things?
Second- a gun in holster on my back at 4:00 is not the best as I am crawling around. One less thing for me to worry about as I am under 2 tons of car. no, I don't practice drawing or shooting from under a car. Its one I haven't thought of. a creeper isn't an option for me because the car is too low on a slanted driveway. thanks for the suggestions |

Yeah, working under my car is one of those times the sidearm goes into a locking, bolted-down, toolbox on the bench. Too many contortions to risk something somehow "murphying" it's way into the trigger area or whatever.
