I personally find it hard to pick a winner, I own 4 of the 5 listed there (870 WM Super Mag, 870 WM 20ga 3', Win 1300 Black Shadow, Mossberg 500e 410, BPS 12,16,410). I know my least fav would be the Mossberg, it shoots fine and points well but don't seem to be as well built as some of the others. The 1300's are just basic shotguns, don't get me wrong, I've killed a bunch of deer and turkey with mine. My choice would probably be the BPS, just because of the handy safety, easy to remove the plug and they're quality built. The 870 is definately a close second, the wing masters come with nice wood and are an American classic, but the safety and action release always screw me up because the 1300's are reversed. All in all they'll all effectively do the job you require of them, its just up to personal preference.

the scale of the different brands reveals nothing to do...

...with the thread question, which is The best pump shotgun.
That would be like in the sixties posting what's the best automobile, and then the scale would read all the way to the right, VW Beatles. While a good car I doubt if it will go down in the history books as the best car; so the scale graph only reveals sales, not really who's the best...and the best for one aspect of shotgun'ing might not be the best in another aspect.
For me, having both the Remington and the Mossberg in home defense formats, my Remington stays tucked away while the Mossberg remains on the dresser loaded. For me fiddling with anything especially when I may have just been awakened in the dark without reading glasses on, the layout of the Mossberg just makes sense, where the Remington design makes no sense to me at all, as if a slide release lever was some after thought.
My two cents worth.

870 wingmaster, without a doubt. It's got a service record that confirms its standing among other shotguns.

I am getting to this poll late, but the best pump I have ever shot, and I have shot all of those listed in the poll, was the High Standard Flite King K120/121. My second favorite would be the Model 12.

Being left-handed, the Mossberg with the tang safety gets my vote. Also, lots of accessories and barrel choices. I'm just picked up a 500 with a rifled barrel and a scope, which I will be using for deer this year instead of a rifle.
