The Weaver bases and Grand Slam rings are clunky but they let me mount the scope.

Would like to get a classy set of bases and rings

Conetrol are nice but S&K look even better with their sculptured bases. However, it will cost over $100 for new rings and bases. Even though they are machined out of solid bar stock steel they are very light weight and give Talley sme pretty tough competition.

SK's were the way to go!

So much nicer than the Weaver Grand Slams on the Weaver bases:

Looks awesome, seems like S&K ships fast. I haven't used any of their rings yet, $100+ is kind of hard to swallow when Talley's have been working for half the money. One of these days I'll order a few sets for my custom rifles.

I think they were the first Leupold 1" scopes with adjustments.
The first Mountaineers only adjusted for elevation.
The dual adjustment came out in 1955.
