Negative Pitch Synthetic Stock for Win 70 SS

I'm working up an general purpose rifle based on a Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless in .308.

I'd like the rifle to be as comfortable as possible to shoot and I've read that these type stocks "fall way from your face during recoil". Is there any truth to this? Who makes good synthetic stocks like these?

Any other suggestions to make this type of rifle and stock /stock design combination more comfortable to shoot (other than add weights)would be greatly appreciated.

Hi DeBee,

The Bell and Carlson line (as of a few years ago) has negative pitch. I have one on a M70 and the pitch combined with the large butt really attenuates recoil.

AFAIK, there's only a couple of ways to reduce recoil - a brake or add weight.

There several techniques to deal with it though - build up to it (smaller calibers, lighter bullets to heavier), stock design/replacement or overload (shoot a few from your .458 prior to your .308).

I've done or tried all of the above - YMMV.
