Benelli barrel cost a deal breaker

Just about to pull the trigger on a new Benelli Nova pump when I found a 18 inch with rifled sights at a great price. I figured I would just buy a 28 inch barrel for bird hunting. If you can find a Nova barrel for sale on the net the cost is around $375.00! A brand new gun is $399.00. This has turned into a deal breaker for me. Back to looking at BPS or a wingmaster.

That has always been an issue and part of the reason I no longer own the Nova. I don't think you'll do much better with BPS or Wingmaster barrels. The 870 barrels are more common, but mostly for the Express. Used 870 barrels are fairly common and reasonably priced but new ones are getting up there too.

Mossberg has the most options at the best prices for pump guns and extra barrels.

A new BPS barrel will cost you about the same....but I think the BPS is a better gun for the money anyway.

Barrels are typically the most expensive single item on a shotgun (gold engraving and XXXXX exhibition walnut excluded), so it is to be expected to cost some money. At that price, though, you might as well get two guns - that way you have a backup

You can find dozens of Remington barrels on ebay for waaay less than that. Some BPS barrels too.

I hate barrel prices.

Even they aren't so cheap though.
I've wanted to outfit myself with one autoloader that has many barrels for sometime, but the barrel cost is atrocious.
