Like something for the 150gr flat base bullet
using IMR powder. I know I have many 'loading for the Garand' articles -- somewhere! If someone has the issue number of Handloader when they did an article on the Garand, please post it. Thanks, GLV

I load 52.5 gr of IMR 4064 in my bolt action. I'd venture that to be down around 47,000 psi, around 48.0 or 49.0 gr. would work.

The key is the 47,000 psi, for best cycling. The pressure at the gas port is supposed to be around 2,000 psi...

While I have shot my max loads in my Garand, I have read that this is a long-term no-no, which makes sense. No point in slamming it around during cycling.

Some others may well have some 4895 loads, too...

Good luck, Art

I use 45 gr. of 4895 in my Garand. It shoots real nice. Very accurate. I have scored pretty high with these loads. I'm going to try some Varget and see how that works in a Garand. It (Varget) works real nice in an AR-15.

From the NRA publication "The M1 Rifle"
Approxmate Mil duplication loads for 30-06.

I don't know how how hot these will be but they seem kinda light in the 4064 department.

These loads are for Commerical Cases
They recommend dropping these charges back 1.5 grains for mil cases.

147/150 gr Bullet
IMR3031 = 48gr
IMR4895 = 49gr
IMR4064 = 50gr

165/168 gr Bullet
IMR4895 = 47gr
IMR4064 = 48gr

173/175 gr Bullet
IMR4895 = 46gr
IMR4064 = 47gr

180 gr Bullet
IMR4895 = 43gr

There are many other powders listed, these are just the IMR loads.

Here's more to digest :-)
From an old Dupont Handloaders guide.

150 gr Bullet
IMR3031 = 49.5gr
IMR4895 = 49.5gr
IMR4064 = 52gr

180 gr Bullet
IMR3031 = 44.5gr
IMR4895 = 43.5gr
IMR4064 = 49.5gr

Here's even more yet =:-O
from the Serria Rifle Reloading manual, 3rd Edition. (My Favorite)

150 gr Bullet
..........Min-------Max
IMR3031 = 44.4gr----49.5
IMR4895 = 44.4gr----50.4
IMR4064 = 46.5gr----52.8

165 gr Bullet
..........Min-------Max
IMR3031 = 40.5gr----46.1
IMR4895 = 41.6gr----47.8
IMR4064 = 42.8gr----49.6
