Sure-fire money-making idea!

Thanks to the denizens of the former Yugoslavia being short on long green, you can't swing a cat in a gun show these days without knocking over a row of Yugo SKS rifles. They're so cheap that nearly everybody owns one.

What does each one have on the muzzle end? That's right! A grenade launcher! Complete with a groovy flip-up ladder sight. What somebody needs to do is one of the following:

1) Load 7.62x39 blank ammo and make some dummy grenades.
2) Come up with a "bullet trap" type inert grenade that will work with 7.62x39.

The "Hey, y'all! Watch this!" potential of these things is staggering. I envision dummy grenades getting lofted downrange at finer gravel pits and shooting ranges across the nation, by people eager to line the pockets of the entrepreneur who can provide them with their fix.

I, however, only do ideas. Someone smarter will have to handle the execution phase.

I think I remember learning that hearing that phrase is a sure sign a redneck is about to Darwin himself!

As an ex-armourer in the desert:

Regular blank ammo is not enough.

The IDF deploys, for rifle grenades, so-called "Bullet-less ammunition" - a cartridge with a greater-than-normal amount of powder, with the case "folded" instead of inserting a round of any kind.

Yup.

That's why all the milsurp .30-'06 and 7.62x51 and 5.56 NATO blanks I have are so loud.

"Shoot-Through" and "Bullet Trap" style rifle grenades have rendered the blank-powered ones somewhat superfluous, though, and given the el-cheapo nature of the Yugo SKS and the ammo it fires, bucks-up special launching cartridges would probably hinder the concept; hence my preference for Option Two. Somebody who paid squat dollars and no cents for the rifle and finds ammunition free with their breakfast cereal isn't going to want to plunk down the long green for blank cartridges to launch their grenades...

These are already for sale, privately at least- practice grenades. I read about them on the gunboards.com ak/sks page. Apparently they work pretty well.

I read somewhere that the Yugo launcher would accept standard "nato" adapters for the pineapple type grenades.
