Thoughts on Thunderwear..

Any one have thoughts from experience on ThunderWear? I'm thinking of buying one and want to hear testimonials other than ones from their website.

im interested in this also, never tried thunderwear, but i did have a pagerpal, it quickly was posted on ebay.

I use a similar set-up from time to time, called SmartCarry.

I've only used the SmartCarry, but when I was considering it, many people who had used both stated it was superior, so I went with it. It makes your pistol a little less accessible, but offers fantastic concealment. Sitting can be a bit difficult until you are used to it. Taking a leak is more involved as well. You either have to have a bit of a gut you can suck in, or pants you can pull out an inch or so to have a decently fast draw.

I have a belly band that I occassionally use when no other form of concealment will do. I had to attend a retirement party last summer, dress pants, thin tucked shirt (too hot for anything less), skinny little dress belt that wouldn't support a mag carrier. I have a slender build & it's difficult to not show a buldge somewhere when I'm packing. I wound up having to wear the belly band very low, below my waistline but it concealed my Sig P239 perfectly. Thunderwear places your pistol right where I was carrying mine; you gotta get the gun in the right place at the right angle to be able to sit down but it is very do-able.

I think it would work for a VERY small pistol. Beyond that, you're liable to get a LOT of winks and unwanted attention from the fairer sex. I'd go belly band or tuckable IWB for that scenario (deep concealment). Get one of these:

I've used both successfully. Ya, pagerpal blows, because when you sit down, it becomes very uncomfortable.

I also have the smart carry, I bought it because it has a sweat proof membrane and it is sewn a little better. I used it quite a bit with my Glock 27, but it also seems to work well with my 3" 1911's. I prefer to use this in the summer when I'm wearing shorts and lighter shirts. In colder weather I prefer my Milt Sparks VMII.

My research experience was like Xavier's, so I, too, bought SmartCarry. I've been extremely happy with it (more so than any carry system I've tried in almost 20 years of carrying), although it took a day or so to get used to it. I would wholeheartedly recommend that you cruise over to SmartCarry's website and check it out.
