New 8" Cimarron Schofield No.3
Greetings, I'm a new guy here and I'm hoping someone can shed a little light on my Cimarron Schofield No.3 45lc 8". My vast variety handgun collection now has a few Italian entries, but this one is the subject. My issue is if it even is one, is that being new and un-fired by me but factory tested, I have a light small movement at the top lock-up latch. By gripping the muzzle and the grip itself and lifting up and down from both ends, I have a small twitch affect, also by holding just the grip and shaking the revolver it has a faint felt rattle there. I realize their is a lot of weight ahead of the lock up. I exchanged the first new one back to the seller via Cimarron's approval and a second was was sent to me with the same trait. Is this somewhat common and the nature of the beast? Do I just shoot and enjoy it? Anyone aware of this with theirs? These are indeed beautiful revolvers. Thanks for any input. Roger

I don't know if it's a common problem with new ones but the latch and hinge will loosen with use. If it was me I'd just shoot it and not worry about it.

Agree with Hawg. And as you noted, this is probably exacerbated by the long barrel and added weight. With a sample of two, I'd be pretty confident this is what they're all going to do.
Love to see some pics; I've wanted a break open revolver for about forever, but haven't succumbed yet. ![]() Larry
