Sidelock lever

Can you tell how the lever operates to release, and then secure, the sidelocks on a Spanish double by Zabalo? Especially, what position should the lever be in when the locks are installed and the gun is ready to shoot?

When the lever is swung to a roughly six o'clock position, I feel a slight resistance, but it does not stay there firmly. Does the orientation of this lever matter for safe shooting?

Thanks.

BTW, I'm asking about the lever screw on the left sidelock, not the top lever...

Orientation shouldn't matter, but it should not be loose. I have seen older guns where the locks have been removed a bunch have the lever closer to 6 than 3 or 9 o'clock

FITASC, thanks for that insight. I've seriously considered buying this gun, but maybe I need to find something else, because the lever swings very easily.
