Guess what DAY it is!?! (and some links)
It's "HUNT Day" (and also hump day).
October 1st - who's out there today hunting in a season that opened today? I'm waiting til tomorrow, as it's 91 F now, but a cold front is coming through now and overnight. Here are a few vids for you guys and gals, which are apropos to whitetail season: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9IGiDQWJCs https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v...type=2&theater https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v...type=2&theater And here's Lee & Tiffany's live "Deer Cam", to get your juices going: http://www.carbontv.com/cams/crush-w...*********=5000 Safety First: Don't forget that the VAST majority of deaths and injuries while hunting happen during tree stand falls. NEVER go past 8 feet up without a harness. Last edited by Unlicensed Dremel; October 2, 2014 at 06:38 PM. |

Thanks for sharing. Our deer seasons are opening as well. I am having a hard time getting motivated since my shop is still under construction and no place to hang meat. Temp this morn was down to 30. Expecting one low temp of 20 something this weekend. Outa Staters are having their way right now. Time to take a circle I suppose!

Bow season open here on Long Island. Storm coming tomorrow, critters will be moving today for sure!
Be safe out there.

OK, since we're talking treestand safety, watch this vid if you're still an unbeliever in harnessing:

93 degrees at Lexington WMA on opening day. Took a young lady out for her first hunt and bow hunt ever. Figured we would be lucky to see any deer at last light. Could hardly get up in the stand before deer showed up and I had not even raised my bow off the ground. We ended up seeing 10 deer between 17:30 and last light. Great hunt for a beginner. She is fired up and going out in the morning by herself since I have kids volleyball and soccer games in the morn.

That is awesome to hear! I was gonna say "Bad move; putting a newbie out in that heat" - but seeing that many deer is great for her!
Hey is Lex open all regular seasons, same as statewide? I don't understand why they do all the controlled hunts there AND have all normal statewide season dates. Seems like you'd do one or the other, but not both... My guess is they're pretty educated in there eh? But maybe not if you saw that many. Maybe there's tons of them but they just educate real fast long about right now, the week before opening ML season weekend - and get nocturnal. |
