Upload your photo to an image hosting sight, like Photobucket. Then when viewing the photo in your library, there will be several codes associated with the photo. Copy the [IMG] code, then paste it into your message.

The result will be this...

Go here:

http://tinypic.com/

You just upload a photo, then look for the Forum/Message board URL and paste it in.

This is the result:

... and you can improve on that even more by using the RESIZE tag set like this:

Which yields:

I have posting pictures on this forum for years using Photobucket and recently it will not work anymore? Can anyone help? I copy the IMG location from my Photobucket photo and paste the link into my post. Eventually what happens is a tiny icon shows that has a link to the photo like this? Thanks for any help.

If I try to paste the image address into the insert image box I get this. Actual adress is without the XX in front of the http://

Someone else noticed that Photobucket had recently made some change that caused images to fail. When you copy/paste the first link (ending with the jpg extension), change the 'i' to an 's' and it should work.

Photobucket postings on this forum.

This forum only allows a link to the photo. I can not post a live photo anymore.

Works fine on other forums.

This should be a photo. But its not, just turns into a link.

http://i338.photobucket.com/user/joe...2h20q.jpg.html This one is a link.

Both are the same photo.

I think its because of posting "copyright" materal. Links are OK.

Photobucket has a lot of popups, spam. Dont go there unless you have an ad blocker running.

Are you talking about the photo of the cylinder right next to your comment saying it isn't a photo?

Do you see the image of the SIG P229 in sigarms228's post above (#6)?

If not, then your browser settings may be blocking images.

BTW, contrary to what you implied, there are two discreet images and one thumbnail in your test post.

No. It acts as a link. When i click it, i go to photobucket and see the photo.

My ad blocker is off. Browser is Google Chrome.

IE 11 shows as all links also.

Edge show only links.

All 3 browsers running on Windows ten.

Must be me then. Sorry.

I still see the correct image in your post #9.

There is definitely something strange going on.

Do other members see images in posts 6 and 9? Please let us know. I want to be sure it isn't the difference between my admin account and a general user's account.

[Edit a few moments later]
I can answer that myself. I used a different browser and accessed this thread as an unlogged in user, and then as a logged in regular user. I could see all the images in question, in this thread and in your testing thread.

I don't know what to look for other than to double check to be sure you aren't blocking images in your browsers.

I see both pics in #6 and 9, on an iPhone Safari and Chrome.

I checked a few things. Set them to default. Checked the firewall settings. I don't know. I'm no expert, so i guess it will stay the same.

Thank you for checking it out.

Added-- On my phone, no photos. Just links.

Checked the box, now it works. "Show images " 72 year olds(me) should not be using computers.

Well, another 72 year old (me) didn't even know that was an option here on TFL. I always thought it was only in the various browsers.

Im not sure what the issue is, why people are saying photobucket has changed, and links to photos no longer work. I dont notice any change, and I have used photobucket for years. Again... as I stated in post #3, upload photo to photobucket. Copy and paste the [IMG] code into your message, and here is the result.

Aint she cute...?

The problem is that it's not working like it always has in the past. Folks are using the IMG links from PB, and they aren't showing as images. It does seem to be variable though.

Check your photos above, friend. They no longer work. PhotoBucket has turned away from free hosting to Blackmailing their customers to the tune of $400/customer.

I just switched from Photobucket to IMGUR. It seems to be working well and is a free site. Give it a try.

I looked at Imgur and found the same restrictions against forum embedding. They just aren't enforcing it yet.

I did find Postimage.org who seem to "love" forum embedding. At least that's what they claim......but they don't do videos yet.....for that I quess it's Google's YouTube.

I know the picture below is huge, the original 3648X2736....posted just to make a point...but with Postimage you can choose how big by choosing pixels like 640x400 or less if you prefer. See second photo under this one.

640x400 below:

bye, PhotoBucket, not missing you anymore at all. But still mad as hell that I have many ruined threads and posts on this and several other gun forums.

Hopefully soon, we will be able to edit photobucket's damage out.....right Mal?
