With hardcast hot loads the 45-70 can drop African dangerous game too! The 45-70 past 200 yards? Why? That cartridge has a rainbow trajectory, and isn't desgined really for hunting past 125 or 150. Sure, it can get out that far, but if you want to long range big game hunt -- get a 338 Winchester. Just my opinion though....

I think it is pretty safe to say "no." It is a great choice for out to 150 or so.

First off - Welcome to TFL Soldier.

Second - If you look up at at the top right side of the screen... no, your other right Soldier... you will see, in small print, a link button labled "search". Click on it. Type in Marlin Guide and hit the search button.

You will come up with 40 or so topics that discuss the Marlin Guide, its capabilities, limitations, and other options.
