My favorite IMR powder for 45 Colt is SR4756. Fills the case well, burns clean(er) expecially at max published loads, and is accurate.

Primers. I have no complaints with either Winchester Large Pistol or CCI 300.

The only IMR powder suitable is IMR4227, and it's only suitable in MAXIMUM loads.

H110 or WW 296 are far better for max loads, and Bullseye or Unique are near ideal for factory duplication loads.

I use only Remington no. 2 1/2 standard large pistol primers in the .45.

Sorry, I stand corrected. I didn't realize that IMR had bought out the rights to the pistol powders from Dupont when they bought the rifle powders.

Imr 4227

So, Maximum a/k/a +P loads is the only recommendation for IMR 4227?

4756 works well in 45 colt at less than +P levels.
