Everyones favorite knife - Page 4

Over the years i've carried several folding knives, from Buck,Emerson,Gerber,S&W tactical /SWAT, in several sizes. Currently I carry a Kershaw Ken Onion Blackout with a serrated edge and i'm pretty sure this is the best all around folder to date. Not to mention I got it at Walmart of all places for $50 although i've seen it at some stores at up to $89

Flash II Plain blade...Assisted open....not too bulky for carry...have tried neck knives, heavier autos, still my hand automatically picks up the Sog every time I go out...my next purchase will be the same knife except in camo

My little 3 blade Kbar is enough for most of my needs. Razor sharp and the longest blade is 2.5 inches. Not big enough to reach a person's hollow spot, but will sure make for hurt and blood.
When I need a fixed blade, I keep picking up my old Marine Corps Kbar fighting knife. It is really too big for most stuff, but it has served its purpose for over 50 years. (Hunting buddies accuse me of carrying a sword)

I only have folding knives right now, and I normally carry a Gerber 650, if I have a coat to put it in, (it's thick) and a Gerber 625 that I'm never without.
Although, as I typed this, I felt my pockets, and I don't seem to have it on me today for some reason

Fixed blades: Make my own from blade blanks = dressed out this year's blacktail with a Frosts' (Norwegen) laminated stainless 3.5" blade handled with Last Years' Blacktail antler stick.

Got a kazillion folders: Buck, Case, Schrade, Camillus, Myerco, Victorinox, several Solingen & Sheffield blades.

I'm not a collector as much as an 'accumulator'

I don't know what others think but I think the ultimate personal knife is what a Scotsman really wears under his kilt- in his sock to be precise- the skien dhu.

Small last ditch knife- basket weave handle on one side ensuring it will slide freely against skin but provides for a good grip.

Double or single edged blade.

Favorite is a 50+ year old Barlow 2 blade pocket knife given me by my Grandfather. Cary folder is a small Kershaw, and fixed blade is an elcheapo Buck, in case I lose it in the woods.

Gotta love my Victorinox, its been working in the engine compartment of my boat for 3 years and not a scratch. A little oil here and there and its good to go for 3 months nonstop. The only thing I'd trust more, is a fixed boot knife, trying to find one myself.

For Combat I have an Emerson Commander and for survival I was lucky to find a Wilkinson Dartmoor... current issue to the SAS. Vey well designed survival knife.

I have a new favorite... a prototype i made a few months ago. So far it is working better than any folding knife i have ever used. There is really nothing else like it. Even the ambidextrious lock is better than any i have used. SUPER strong, and so far it hasn't even begun to "fail". The blade, S30v, not too thick, not too thin, has a totally unique grind and cuts and stabs like a dream. The blade is a bit long, though, for the average state law, 4.75", but, it really isn't too long in use. The shape works for virtually every task i have put it to yet. The ergonomics of the handle are such that any way i hold it or use it it's comfortable. Totally ambidextrious, the handle is 5.9" long, .10" thick grade 5 titanium, and because of the shape and placement of traction grooves it doesn't slip in the hand. Super easy to open and close with one hand. Super easy to sharpen, clean, and maintain. The pocket clip, which can go on either end, either side, allows the knife to ride deep in the pocket, but comfortably. Overall length is 10.6", extremely well balanced, has tremendous cutting power, and is not for the squeeemish. Weight is 5.5 ounces. This is the first in a whole line of knives being produced, and there will be smaller ones, and variations, all based upon this same design. Of course, i HAD to make the big one first!

Hi,

Just got a Wilkinson Dartmoor survival! Found a new one for only $160 on the bay.

GREAT survival knife. Very well built, good design and will handle anything I throw at it. Built like a tank and holds an edge like crazy.

If you are looking for a great survival design this beats the hell out of a Buck 184 or the big Gerbers... Now a Randal or Reeves might be a different story....
