Optics mount on a 5.56 Arsenal SLR106UR

This is an AK clone with a short Krinkov type gas system and a flipover rear sight permanently attached to the hinged dust cover.

Problem: The standard side rail mount does not fit BECAUSE of the rear sight in the way.
Question: Shall we (a) replace the top cover? (b) find a taller scope mount? (c) do something else?

I have tried to find a replacement cover without a rear sight or a taller side rail mount. No such luck. If you have dealt with this setup successfully, I would appreciate your advice.

Have you considered a LER style that mounts the optic over the gas-tube?
