Ohio is now introducing an "assault weapon" ban
Just an FYI: If you have been getting lax on emailing and calling your representatives and you live in Ohio it's time to step it up!!
http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/node/8786 The guns that are deemed assault weapons will leave you scratching your head...... Nahh actually I am not surprised that they are that stupid! |

The text of the bill is here.
While it is ridiculous in scope, friends in Ohio are staying vigilant but aren't worrying much. The makeup of the legislature there isn't very conducive to gun control.

Senator Smith - the one that is behind this bill is a blithering idiot.
She just got done getting a bill through that seals felony and misdemeanor records and now wants to pass a bill that turns a law abiding citizen into a felon - just because they own a 10 round magazine. |

State Sen. Kearney, one of the sponsors of this bill was on the radio this morning (you can download a podcast for the 7:00 am hour from 55WKRC). He used the term "semiautomatic machine guns" and was put in his place by the host (Brian Thomas). When confronted with the absurdity of the scope of the bill, he admitted that the bill was "just a placeholder" meant to "start a conversation" about the issue.

Here in New York a semiautomatic is often referred to as a machine gun in the media. It frustrating to say the least.
