Suggestion: Quote button
On the 1911 forum, each message has a Quote button on it. If you want to respond to the message, the Quote button opens up the Reply form with the original message automatically there inside quote tags. How come there isn't a Quote button here?

When The Firing Line used UBB software, there *was* a quote button. Unfortunately, many members would use that button (often quoting the post that had appeared directly above them) every single time they posted. Sometimes, members would re-quote entire posts, just to add one sentence to the conversation. This increased the noise to signal ratio of the threads considerably.
If you would like to quote a previous post, or a part of one, there is an easy way to do it. Highlight the part of the post you would like to quote. Copy the text by pressing <ctrl><c> (or <cmd><c> on a Mac) Click the "Reply" button Click the "Quote" button just above the text entry area. Paste the saved text into the popup and click OK. Add you comments at the bottom and then hit "Submit Reply." HTH! -Dave |
