Bet it has to with the rifle equivalent of limp wristing.

Suggest you try it southpaw yourself. I'm lefthanded and never had trouble w/a regular AR.

A thought:

Are the upper and lower receivers mated snugly? Or are they fairly loose?
I'm wondering if the upper and lower could be loose enough that the different "twist" given by LH vs RH shooters holding the fore-end could tweak the alignment enough to cause carrier strike or at least binding...

Sounds reasonable. Wish I had thought of it.

While I can say that the upper and lower are good and tight together, I can't really speak to things like gas issues, springie thingies, etc. I'll have my buddy take a look at it and strip it down with me, both to have an experienced eye on the task, and to teach me along the way. After that is done, I'll return with a follow up report.

I never had a problem with my AR10 shooting lefty BUT my recent 300HAM'R AR15 build is giving me grief. I put a JP Rifles LMOS buffer and spring in but have yet to range test it. The original spring was from an AR10 (maybe too strong?). I opened up the gas all the way but still was a problem. I may get out to the range today to see what it does with the new spring and buffer.
