Colt 1911 Talo CCG

the local shop got one of these in today...i do a lot of business in there, so i asked them to set it aside for me for day to think it over, they did no problem....anyone have one? any noticable difference between it and a standard mil spec? fit and finish seem to be great, the trigger felt a little nicer than my mil spec 1911's aswell...thanks for any and all input in advance

I’ve never seen one in person, but I like the concept of a factory 1911 with basic upgrades without going over the top. I also really like the fact that it has no front cocking serrations and traditional rear serrations.

I guess my only word of caution is to do some price checking to be sure you’re not overpaying for a new model that might be sort of all the rage right now. If you do get it be sure to post a review and let us know what you think.

i was also pleased that it did not have front serrations, never been a fan of them, in fact i would like a couple of my 1911's better if they did not have them...800 out the door is what they have offerd me...if i pass, they say it will recieve a 1,000 dollar sticker and go in the display box..

Re: Colt 1911 Talo CCG

Caleb at gunnuts.net (NRAhab here on TFL) has been running one for a few months and has posted a few articles on it. Seems to be holding up well so far, only ammo/mag related malfunctions and very few of those. When the suspect ammo and magazines were removed from rotation, it's been running 100%.

Colt 1911 Talo CCG

800 out the door would be hard to pass on. $995 is what I've seen and almost bought.

picked it up earlier today...took it apart for a lube job, and fired 50 rounds off the back porch...very impressed to say the least...accuracy it comparable to my springer RO and sig STX which both have trigger jobs and adjustable sights...fit and finish of the colt rains supreme over the springer and sig though IMHO...heres some pics

Ok, I’m jealous.

So, does your gun have the slim fit grips on it? If so do you like them or plan to change to a more standard set?

It did come with the slim fit grips, wasn't sure if I would like them as first...but sat down and compared the feel of the slim fit vs my springer loaded with VZ operators and its hard to say which I prefer...never had grips this thin before, I'll have to get more rounds down range before I can give an honest opinion

WOW!!...300 rounds today, accuracy is close to my Les Bear tactical which i paid almost double for...after i do the trigger, i bet it is just as good...average 3inch groups at 50 yards, best group was 2inch at 50...this is exactly what i wanted, a quality 1911 without all the extra do-dads...going to have my smith do a trigger job and add an ambi safety and call her perfect...i even like the FO front sight for target use

Sounds like you've got a winner! Congratulations. Of course, not every Colt will be that close to a Baer in accuracy so don't let it go.

I just bought one of these for $1,150 shipped on gunbroker. They have gone way up in price, I would hold on to it cuz it should gain more in value. The thing is this model offers upgrades that a lot of guys want without sacrificing the original look and feel. Colt/Talo did excellent on this one and they are hard to find in new condition.

Gabe...the last post before yours was over a year ago.

Seems to be a lot of this going around.
