US Springfield Mod 1884

I have an 1884 Springield just courious as to some of the markings on the breach and stock...ser #237594...breach markings vp p....SWP1889 stamped on left side above trigger and also # 104 stamped on left side of stock...any ideas as to these markings?

I don't have my books in front of me, I know that SWP stands for Samuel W. Porter. He held the title of Master Mechanic at Springfield Armory, he performed the final inspection
and gave it the stamp of approval.

The VP and P were the barrel proof and the rifle proof. The stock cartouche as it is called, was the acceptance stamp.
