Pictures of screen-used movie guns (from IMFDB)

I am an administrator on the Internet Movie Firearms Database (http://www.imfdb.org), and I thought I'd give you guys a heads-up. Recently, our armorer took some photographs of many guns used in movies by famous actors for us after visiting some of his fellow armorers.

These are all real guns converted to blank-fire. He's been taking pictures of movie guns for us for quite some time, but it's only been recently that he started taking pictures of guns that he knows were used in specific movies by specific actors. A few of these guns were already photographed for Long Mountain Outfitters' site (http://www.longmountain.com/movieguns), but in my (admittedly biased) opinion, ours are way better.

I thought I'd share them with y'all. Again, all of these weapons are the actual ones used by the actors in the movies:

This is Bruce Willis' Beretta 92F from the original "Die Hard", also used by Mel Gibson in the first "Lethal Weapon". It has a custom-built extended slide release and magazine release. As you can tell, it's pretty much been beaten to a pulp from years of movie use, so it's now retired to a glass museum case.

This is a Norinco Type 54/Model 213 (Chinese Tokarev copy) used in "Rush Hour":

This is a custom short-barreled AKMS pistol. There are several guns like this in the industry, and you've seen them in "Terminator 3", "Rambo 4", "Pineapple Express", etc.:

This is an HK94 converted to look like an MP5A3 (with a La France trigger pack and a short barrel). Our armorer wasn't too sure which movies this particular gun appeared in, but he's pretty sure it was seen in "Air Force One". Guns just like it have been in "Predator", "Lethal Weapon", "Die Hard", etc.

That was a very impressive array of firearms in the movie Heat.

Do you know what brand 1911 Brad Pitt used in Seven, it looked nice and maybe customized. I'm fairly certain the Morgan Freeman was armed with a 4 inch S&W Model 19.

Our page (http://www.imfdb.org/index.php?title=Se7en) has Freeman's revolver down as a Model 15, but I can't confirm that myself as I haven't seen the movie in a while and I didn't work on that page myself.

The person who did work on the page says that it was a Springfield Armory 1911 that was custom-built for the film. Again, I can't confirm that, but we do have screenshots of the 1911 in case you can tell.

If you wish, I will ask IMFDB's armorer to find out what kind of 1911 was used in the movie. Chances are, the gun is probably still floating around in the industry and is hidden in a vault somewhere.

Here is one other I forgot. This is a S&W Model 3913 "Ladysmith". This was Wesley Snipes' gun in "Demolition Man". LMO has a photo of this one, too, but of course, ours is better, because our guy took the time to do a really good picture (and then Photoshopped it).

Oh, yes. They get auctioned off and sold all the time. Just a few months ago, PropStore.com had Will Smith's AR15 from "I Am Legend" and Denzel Washington's Browning Hi-Power from "American Gangster" on sale. When Stembridge Gun Rentals dissolved their assets in 1999, LMO sold off much of their collection.

However, they always cost a bundle because "hero value" is frequently attached to them. If I recall correctly, Will Smith's AR sold for over $10,000. Also, even if you are willing to pay for them, you wouldn't be able to shoot anything besides blanks in them...the barrels are internally threaded and plugged for blank fire, and often other modifications are done that make the guns unable to function with live ammo (for instance, SIG pistols and H&K USPs need the exposed top of the barrel milled down). Seems like kind of a waste to me, unless you're really crazy.

I have not watched in along time either, but I seem to remember pausing it and zooming in on Freeman's revolver in the scene where he fires a warning shot in the air to stop the van. I could have sworn it was a 19, the ejector rod had the inclosed housing.

Well, I'm sure you're right then. One of the problems with being a Wiki is that anybody can put down edits, even if they don't know what they're talking about. That's why we always welcome people who DO know what they're talking about to make contributions.

Sharp eyes! I would guess that's a coincidence. This gun started life as a standard factory S&W 3913, so unless someone at Smith & Wesson had a sense of humor when they put down that down, I would guess not.

I will need to watch it again before I do any editing. I do however own two 4 inch Model 19s and a 4 inch Combat Masterpiece, the forerunner of the Model 15. I remember feeling fairly confident that it was a 19, but since I haven't watched the film in two years or more I had better watch it again.
