Avoid mentioning other forums or online stores?
Hey there,
It may just be me, but it seems like people avoid mentioning other forums by name, or mentioning online stores. Like the "big river" online store rather than saying the word that rhymes with... Bamazon. Is there an unspoken rule that I'm unaware of? Considered polite or impolite? I read the forum rules again and didn't see anything so I may be missing something.. |

Some folks will censor themselves when they think the moderators or other members will take them to task for their comments. That's their own view of things and not TFL policy or practice. |

We do try to avoid "forum wars" because it's counterproductive, but there's no rule against talking about other forums or even posting links to content on other sites or forums.
There are restrictions on advertising on TFL, so when it comes to commercial websites, there can be issues if a member starts posting what looks like advertising. To clarify, mentioning that you bought X on Y website isn't a problem, nor is posting a link to a product on a website if someone asks about finding that kind of product. Helping out/informing your fellow members about cool products or great deals is just fine. If it gets to the point where it is just advertising, then that's another story.

actually when you look at the "non rule", any post about a retail outlet, or online forum that doesnt agree with what a moderator feels about that particular venue, will get the post thread removed.
even get YOU removed from the forum here. |

He’s just a disgruntled new poster. Check his history.
