270win load recommendations

I am interested in working up some loads with the nosler accubond long range 150grain bullets. I have usually had good success with bonded bullets including noslers in my other rifles, and the G1 of these bullets are .591 with a G7 of .298. I thought that was pretty good and wanted to work something up for hunting to try out. if anyone has any pet .270win loads or good powder recommendations i would appreciate it. I prefer to use a powders that a not very temp sensitive due to the fact i live in louisiana and do load developement during the summer in 95-103 degree weather and hunt in 20-40 degree weather. I can test and shoot out to 1500yrds in my hunting club, but once hunting season rolls around all that stops and i have to have my loads worked up by then. im only looking for an effective range of 400yrds or so after that i cant ethically justify the shot and fall within the rules of the club anyhow.

I don’t shoot the 150’s in my 270, so all I can comment on is what I use for the 130 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips in my Sako. I use Norma cases, CCI BR2 primers, and 59 gr of H4831 (start lower and work up to your load). Grew up in Tensas Parish in Louisiana and killed a couple hundred deer with that load. I can’t speak for loads for 1500 yards.

4350 is a very good powder for 270 - seems to be a go to for that cartridge (plenty of others work)

4831 is as well.

I will dig up the 270 Load, its not max, but its accurate. 150 gr as well.

I'm hunting with 150gr ABLR in my 270 and powder is IMR-7828ssc. I used H-4350 with Barnes 140gr and H-4831sc with 150gr Partition. I got one buck and cow elk with 150gr ABLR.

I have a few hundred of the same bullets, haven't loaded them yet. When I do I'll probably use something like Mag Pro which I have a few pounds of or RL22 which I have a lot more of. Mag Pro has loads approaching 3000 fps with 150 grain bullets in the .270 Win, now I don't need 3K fps but I'm not going to turn it down if I get there accurately. I've been reading good things about RL26 and the .270 as well and I'm very tempted to try a couple of pounds.

Ever since Jack O'Conner's days, 4831 has been a natural choice for the .270. There may be newer powders available, but starting with 4831 is always a good bet!

I use the Magpro with my loads for 150 grn ABLR's.
I never chronoed this load yet but it's an moa shooter for sure.
Also use Magpro for 150 grn Btips and it's very decent.

Thanks fellas. I have a few powders to do some research on. as far as magpro goes 3,000fps with a 150grain at the kind of B.C. these ablr bullets have.... it will be hard not to look into that one.

I keep off the high velocity nodes.

Mine is several grains below max. Easier on the barrel and over the lifetime of shooting that can be a factor.

I do not have any 150 gr loads so I do not know if this will help but I have had luck with IMR 4831 with 50 gr of powder and a hornady 140 gr SST. I consistently get .800 inch groups or better.

i have used 4350 before. It always seemed to be very consistent through temp swings. Thats a good thing for me in louisiana! The morning may start at 40 degrees and be 85 by the time i get off my deer stand.

i did play with some varget and 4064 i had laying around i used in 308 loads and the 4064 out of my old savage 110 270 layed down some .5 inch groups consistantly at 100yrds but was very slow at that accurace node.

I use the Hornady 150gr Interlock FB or the Nosler 150 Partition in my .270[Sako], with a fairly stout load of H4831sc. Just a bit under max. Avg MV is 2880-2900 fps. Very accurate in my gun.

I have a Vanguard and a nice cache of old Nosler Solid Base 150s; they work well with H4350, H4831 and RL22.

What the Vanguard really likes though, is Sierra 150 grain boat tails with RL22. Ridiculous accuracy with plenty of velocity out of its' 24" barrel.

I've never loaded 15gr. Accubond, but HAVE loaded a bunch of 130's. I use H4831 for my .270 loads. I typically load 56gr. of 4831 with a WLR primer. 3.320" OAL. I shoot em out of a Savage 111 and sighted in at 25 yards. You can cover three shots with a nickel.

Do you have experience with the nosler ablr bullet yet? I’ve heard some not so great things. The super short bearing surface is harder to find an accurate load for. Bryan Litzy found the published bc to be grossly inflated, and while they are indeed bonded they reportedly pancake really hard at high impact speeds such that penetration is less than with a conventional soft point utilizing a thicker jacket. All that being said, I love the .270s general un-fussiness when it comes to powder. Don’t be afraid to go to the slow burners. Rl22, rl25, imr 7828 and 7977, anything 4831 and the enduron 4955 would be my recommendations. Rl22 easily drives a 150 grain hornady interlock to 2900 FPS out of my 22 inch barrel with no pressure signs or problems of any kind, in all temperatures despite rl22s potential for temp sensitivity.

My Rem Model 700, originally purchased in 1968, won't group under an inch with anything but Hornady 150gr SP and H4831. Just being nostalgic, that was my first rifle, so I bought my last rifle and it's a new .270 Rem Model 700 stainless. It won't group anything but Hornady 140gr SST, with H4831. My son has a Winchester Featherweight Model 70 in .270 and it won't group anything but Speer 130gr Flat Base(and not boat tail) with RE22.

I mention all this just in case you can't get anywhere with 150gr bullets.
