new barrel 5r rifling ?

Looking and thinking about a new barrel for my AR 15. Shooting 100 to 300 yd paper targets.
Is 5r the way to go or are the top name barrels just as good without the 5r ?
This would replace the barrel on my Colt match target competition AR.
What barrels are the shooters at Camp Perry using ?

I have a 444 MGM barrel for my TC Encore with 5R rifling that is sub moa. It has a mirror shine and very easy to clean. Plenty of people shooting tight groups without 5R though.

The question isn't just 5r or no...

A poorly made 5r barrel will shoot worse than a well made traditional barrel.

Now, in theory, all things being equal (they rarely are) between traditional 6 groove and 5r, the 5r will shoot better due to less stress induced into the bullet.

So, pick a barrel from a manufacturer who has a reputation for accurate barrels. And don't worry about if it is or isn't 5r.

If you can get a 5r from a good company then awesome.

can you guys recommend a good barrel maker ?
What about Kregeir, shillen, white oaks etc which is recommended by the camp perry and competition shooters ? This is for shooting matches at 300 yds with NRA paper targets

I wouldn't get too hung up on the number of grooves as an absolute indicator of inherent accuracy--I have a 3rh barrel from ARP which is very accurate.
