Oversized side focus wheel.

I've never used a scope equipped with one and I am curious as to the advantage gained. The S&B 12-50 I am looking at has the option for one.

The S&B rep at SHOT explained that the oversize side focus wheel lets you use the focus as a rangefinder. Popular for air rifle field shooting where you have a high trajectory over relatively short ranges, and actual range finders not allowed.
