the M&P9c is by all means concealable and would be a good choice for a carry weapon. personally id take the money youd spend on a jframe and spend it on a m&p 22, lots of ammo to practice and a good gun belt/holster combo.

this way you end up with a carry gun, a slightly larger version in 22 for cheap practice and a quality belt and holster to make it comfortable and easy to carry

stick with what you have and buy one or two quality holsters and go take a 2 day pistol class from one of the big name instructors and after that see if you need another pistol.

The M&P 9c is an absolutely great CCW firearm, even though my personal preference is for full-size handguns. Recoil is manageable, good magazine capacity, very concealable. Don't skimp on a crummy holster or belt!!! Take a good safety class and practice, then practice some more. That includes everything from holster draws and reholstering, malfunction clearing, maintenance plus shooting.
