Longshot in .30 Carbine?

Anyone using it or have a starting point?

I got an 8# container to do 10mm, for which it should last a long time. But, looking at powders for .30 carbine I see some in the general burn rate area (2400, AA #7). I could probably extrapolate a starting point but would like to know if anyone has firsthand experience.

Thanks!

Accurate doesn't list anything faster than AA#9 for the Carbine. You sure you saw a AA#7 load? In any case, Longshot is too fast for me to want to try in one of my carbines. Maybe in a Blackhawk, but not a gas operated rifle.

Lil" Gun not Long Shot. Long Shot is for 12 ga. loadings. Any slow burning pistol powder like--H-110 --Win -296 --AA- #9 -- IMR-4227 or Alliant-2400 all will work in a 30 carbine. I use Win-296 in mine w/110 gr. bullet. Works good.

Are we to presume that your intended use is in a Carbine as opposed ot a Blackhawk or Contender? It does make a world of difference.

My mistake. My intent was to load carbine. Budget is tight and I was looking multitask a powder that I have 8lbs of already. Sadly this unclear post was made in the middle of the day rather than my usual 0300. I had totally forgot about the revolver load when I posted. Thanks.

For the Carbine, your powder choices are limited due to the placement and size of the gas port.

The 4227's, 2400, Win 296 / H110, Lil Gun, AA#9, AA 1680, Enforcer and N110 are the usual suspects.
