long shot powder in .40 cal
Hi everyone. Went to cabelas and could only get longshot powder. Does any one have any load data for longshot with 165 gr rainier fp plated bullets. Will be shooting them in my xd service model .40 cal. Also have 155 gr berrys round shoulder plated. Any data will help. Thanks.

Funny, I had the same issue. I got this web site from another member go to www.hodgdon.com and follow the steps to the load data for the 40s&w. Print the load data off and save. On my 155gr speer ft, My beginning load is 8.0 grains of long shot. Hope this helps.

I looked at that site. They list 155 gr berb fp. What is berb? I know berrys and rainier site say load using cast bullet data. I. Have horndays, layman's 49th and lees manuals but for some reason the cast bullet data isn't shown for those bullet weights or they dont say how much long shot to use? I also have some unique powder. Does anyone have a good load worked up for rainier 165 gr or berths 155?

BERB = Berry's Bullets. Compliments of my Hodgdon's Basic Reloading Manual .

Longshot is one of the best powders for heavier loads in the 40S&W and the 10MM. Published loads in the 40 w/ 180 gr bullets will exceed 1100fps. Some what more moderate laods are available. Accuracy is good. Hodgdon.com is a place to start.
