Stripper clips
Still waiting for my C&R to get here, do I'm shopping for accessories. Where can I get some good Mosin and SKS stripper clips?

I don't have a SKS (been thinking of getting one) so I don't know how good the stripper clips are for them but I do have a bunch of original Mosin clips "the good ones" and while they do work and arnt to bad there definitely are tricks to get them to work right and they are not as good/easy to use as other milsurps I have used.

just about any of the SKS repack kits you see online work fine. some have a more pronounced lip at each end to hold the rounds in better, it's kindof a catch22, they are harder to feed with but less likely that you'll dump a bunch in your pocket if you're walking around a lot and don't have the fancy ammo pouches.

Moisin clips I don't know, but just about every gunshow I've ever been to has had tons of SKS clips.
I used to use a trick of coating the head of a case with valve grinding compound (steel case) and sliding it through the clip repeatedly. It would polish the lips and make the clips a LOT easier to use.

The SKS clips are at just about every gun show ever held.
Mosin clips sometimes come with the surplus ammo, they are available on line. The brass ones are the best. Having said that, I just generally load the magazine one-by-one when the Mosin is at the range. |

I can't speak for the SKS stripper clips but IMHO Mosin stripper clips are junk.
I agree with kilimanjaro, I just load my Mosins at the range one at a time. |

Check on eBay; They're a staple item on there.

One thing about M-N clips is that, unlike most others, they are not ejected automatically when the bolt is closed. In fact, they have to be removed manually because the bolt can't be closed with the clip in place, so they are usually not lost and last a long time.
SKS clips, of course, will pop out on bolt closure, but they are pretty big and not easily lost, or the shooter can remove them manually. Jim |

By far the BEST Mosin stripper clip you can find are the ones Numrich sell. They aren't the crappy NCStar/Chinese kind that have the prongs that jab you and they are anodized steel so they are tough and shiny. They're priced pretty fairly too. I have about 5 of them.

I believe I bought a set of those for my Mosin years ago and they worked very well. I've also had some parkerized Polish clips that I would from some online store and those were muy excellente! Whatever you do, stay away from the cheapo Chinese Mosin clips. They will slice open your thumbs and fingers like a piece of bologna, and are horribly stiff. They are J. U. N. K. ! |

Speaking of stripper clips, I need to get a couple for my Mauser K29. I used to have several, but I can't find a single one of them anymore. If I buy some, I'm sure to find the others the next day... at least that's what happens with everything else.

Don't standard G/K 98 clips work?

Thanks Mosin-Marauder! I know where I can find stripper clips for both, but I was looking for the good ones. I'll get some on the way!
Are these SKS stripper clips from Numrich any good? https://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/501840.htm#981530B

No problem!
I'm not sure about those SKS clips, as I don't own an SKS (that's next on my purchase list!) I've heard the ones from AIM did not fit the clip catch, but a fellow over at SKS boards says they fit fine. http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php?topic=102442.0 Hope this helps.

That being said, they are better than the Chinese Mosin clips. What I would do is buy them, get a used 7.62x39mm case, and coat the case in Flitz metal polish. Not stick the case in the clip and work it back n' forth a piece, and this will help smooth out any roughness in the stripper clip. Do that for all of them. When you load the clip in the rifle, push straight down HARD with your thumb as close to the clip as possible. Push all the way down til the magazine bottoms out or otherwise you might leave a few rounds on the clip on accident. Trust me, I know. After that you will be loading your SKS like a champ, or at least an Asian peasant in a rice paddy in 1969 LOL! |

I ordered some Numrich sks stripper clips the other day and they'll arrive Monday. For $1.20 a piece they can't be that bad.
If you call the numrich number and select placing an order they will give you a code to save $4.50 in shipping. But you have to call during their hours eastern time. About once a month they offer a code for free shipping on their facebook sight but that was the same day I placed my order. I tend to keep a list of stuff I need/want and wait for those free days. |

Here OP:
Notice the clips in the lower right hand side, that are parkerized? Those are Polish surplus clips and work really nice. The rest of the clips that are shiny silver are Chinese and they are stiff and sharp... I'd avoid them if possible! Last edited by Model12Win; July 27, 2014 at 04:51 PM. |

I tested the SKS stripper clips that I got from Numrich today and they work fine. Haven't had a problem so far.

I got my MN stripper clips in my tin of late 1940's ammo. Good and sturdy, rounded edges and at the prices they are selling for now, the clips alone are worth way more than I paid for the ammo with stripper clips.

Any Mauser charger that is for any cartridge in the .468-.470 family will work, such as the 7.65 Argentine chargers.
