Marlin MR-7
Hi all,
Recently picked up a Marlin MR-7 in 25-06. Wood stock. Appears to be the factory stock. Having trouble finding action screw torque values. Any help is appreciated. |

Thanks. We’ll see what that does.

Initially, the action screws were loose. I torqued them to 35 in-lbs before I got a response here. It grouped right at 1”. Went to 50 in-lbs and it opened up to 1-1/2”. Where did you find the 50-60 in-lb spec? Wondering if something is wrong with the rifle or spec is closer to 30 in-lbs??

Hand screwdriver tight is good enough. You really don't require a torque wrench for a hunting rifle. Those kind of specs wouldn't be published by manufacturers anyway.
Mind you, if it's consistently shooting into an inch, that's where I'd leave it.

What T. O'Heir suggested. If you have it down to an inch, leave it alone.

I backed it off. I’ll see if it comes back in next time I shoot it. Took it apart to adjust the trigger. Noticed slight contact between the end of the stock and barrel. Could have put too much pressure on the barrel. Will see how it does before getting rid of the pressure point. Thanks.
