Looking for Ithaca, BPS history. JMB designs.

I'm trying to find more on the original John Moss Browning designs for the bottom eject shotguns like the Ithaca and the BPS. I'm looking for diagrams and patents etc.. I would like to know and learn more about them, and hopefully come up with a design for a pump rifle that is bottom loaded, tube kept not magazine, and shoots rifle rounds, but breaks down to two piece of almost the same length for easy storage. The BPS's seem the closest basis to work from. Yes, it has to be bottom eject (I'm left handed).

So whatever help you guys/gals can give would be appreciated. Patent numbers would be great. Also, if there are other bottom eject guns that you guys know of, please let me know and I'll take a look into it.

Thanks.
Albert

You might try Harley's forum with this question.

Lyman put out a book called "The American Shotgun" (David F Butler) a few years ago that gives the history and background of the popular american shotguns. But it does not give patent numbers.

Good Luck!

Cabellas has a catalog which sells booklets with the exploded diagrams of various shotguns, including the BPS. Check it out.

I downloaded exploded diagrams of the BPS from Browning's website. I also downloaded the breakdown of the Ithaca's. They are based off the same browning action I believe.

So if there is any place I should look, let me know.

Thanks.
