Are the model 19 "K" or "N" frames? Anyone know the fair market value of a 19-5 in probably around 95% original condition? The grips have been replaced with rubber and wood Pacmayers. Slight barrel ring and no play in the cylinder. Apparently it's had a trigger job. It's really smooth and light. Much more so that the 686 I used to have. The guy I got it from said it had less than 500 rounds through it. Here's a couple of bad pics. I'm figuring between $400-$450. Am I too far off? (Mfg. 1983...thanks for the help)

.38 S&W model 36

I just came home from Christmas shopping with a gift for the Hubby. S&W model 36 (no dash) serial # AAZ50xx. So many helpful people on this forum...and I am hoping someone would please educate me when this gun was manufactured. (Early 80's ?)

It really wasn’t the gun I had in mind to get for him but the more I looked at it, the more it seemed like that gun should come on home with me. Hopefully he will like it.

AAF9000 was Made in Oct 1982, and ABL3999 was made in Dec. 1982, so yours was made sometime between Oct and Dec of 1982.

J670001-J760000 was made in 1979-1980, so yours was probably made in 1979, although that is a bit of a guess, but certainly it was made in 79 or 80.

Hi everyone!

I am new to the handgun world and just picked up a smith and wesson 10-5. I am told by the seller that it was an old service revolver but I don't know the year. So I was hoping you guys to help a girl out!

Serial Number

Thanks!

Just purchased a S&W Model 66, 2 1/2, with a serial number 6K65xxx. The pistol is NIB, still in cosmolene, and has all papers. I paid $400. Can anybody tell a date from the serial number and give thoughts on the purchase price?

Thanks...

I'll buy a 66 NIB all day long and into the night for that price. You got a good deal.

I didn't expect to be asking this, but... I saw a nice model 27-2 in a presentation box at the local shop. Owner's manual and all paperwork included, advertised as NIB and it sure looks like it. P&R, bore is spotless. Anyway, the serial number is N6547xx, wondering if anyone can give date of manufacture.

Thanks for the reply!!!!
Would this also be enough to tell me which "frame" this is? J/K?

Quote:
.357 stainless with markings under the cylinder hinge, visable when cylinder is open:

65-3 B13 667xx AYT2xxx

Is that enough to tell me what model, year, etc. the gun is?

FlyFish

morbid0000: 65-3 is the model number, and the AYT serial number prefix would date the gun to 1987.
