The perils of collecting old Gun Digest books.

I have a whole shelf of them.
They're fun to read while on the...er... reloading bench.

But...damn.... the articles written by my early gurus just remind me how OLD I have gotten.

Most of my favorite gun authors are now dead and the guns I drooled over in my younger days were for hunting and targets.
Nowadays, if it doesn't wear a Picatinny rail, it's hardly even in a book.

But it's more absorbent than the new slick paper.
Try wiping with the American Rifleman.

I am with you Lavan. I also have a lot of old GDs plus the newer ones, of course. You can find stuff in the oldies that you can't find elsewhere. The best editions came when John T. Amber was editor and you could find articles by Jack O'Connor, Warren Page, Charles Askins, Lucian Cary, and even Elmer Keith, among others.

Yep. Firearms HISTORY, great milled and fitted guns, practical ballistics, all that.

What I hate is coming across an old copy of Shotgun News. If only I'd had money back then. I once ran across a Shotgun News from the 60's, now THAT was cause for much weeping and wailing.
