M&P
There are several very good choices for a full size 9. M&P is one of the best.
You have the Shield, so get the M&P 4.25" and avoid back and forth adjustments to different guns. Mine is superb (first gen with Apex trigger). I have also have an M&P compact. And others - Glock, Ruger, Kahr. The M&Ps operate and feel the same. Others have a different grip and trigger feel plus other dissimilarities that can affect your speed and accuracy at the wrong time. |

Go with one of the originals - a Glock 17. My CCW gun is a G17.

I bought an M&P9 2.0 shortly after they were released, and it's become my favorite polymer pistol. The first thing I noticed is that the gun absolutely stays put in my hand when fired, thanks to the aggressive stippling. While shooting, I don't have to make any of the small adjustments I seem to always have to make with the Glock. The trigger reset is also miles ahead of my Glock 35, both from a tactile standpoint and audible standpoint. Everything about the gun makes it easy to shoot well. I don't own a CZ, so I can't compare the 2.0 to one, but I can tell you that it would have to be awfully good to be better than my 2.0.

FNH FNX or FNS 9. I have the FNS 40 and the FNX 40 and the FNX 45 and they are exceptional. Were I to get another 9mm full size I would go with the FNS or FNX 9 based on the reliability and performance and accuracy of FNH and a couple of thousand rounds each with the ones I have and never a hiccup.

"There is the Tanfoglio Witness..."
I prefer my Polymer Witness 40 caliber to my friend's... I think the model is CZ P07. I got two polymer Witnesses, in 40 caliber and 45acp, for $249 apiece barely used. They were separate purchases, both within the past six months or so. I own four Tanfoglio CZ "clones" and they are all excellent pistols. Admittedly, I haven't shot the S&W. |

If you ignored magazine cost would that clarify your choice? |

I've had them all, many M&P's, Glocks, Hk's, Sigs, Springfields, Rugers, in 9mm and 45. Some time back I purchased my first CZ P07, I now have 2 more P10C and a P01. All are great guns, very accurate and great triggers, right out of the box. I'll be purchasing a couple more also, the p09 cannot be beat for about $475. The Sp01 Phantom is another fabulous gun. Outside of my Sig P320 I'll have mostly CZ's and loving it.
I still like the M&P and the 2.0 looks very good and if it wasn't for the CZ's I'd be back into the M&P's. To anyone that says CZ doesn't have a aftermarket, the Cajun Gun Works and CZ Custom offers unmatched upgrades, you don't need anyone else. |

I have to go along with tallball. I have a Witness Pavona in 380acp and after having shot it for awhile now the next on my list is one of 3 of the Witness, that being either another 9mm, a 40 or a 45.
