I thought a handguns in and with their holsters thread would be fun. Handguns aren't just for looking at, they're for packing. Also the design and evolution of the practical fast draw/combat holster and the field holster is fairly interesting.

I snapped the pic below awhile back and its what gave me the idea for this thread.

From the top left: 4in S&W Model 57 .41 Magnum, with stag grips in a Bianchi Cyclone. Its a decent holster and I can get an N-frame out of it quick. To its right, turned vertical: is an SD Myres floral carved Colt Police Positive Tom Three Persons variation holster, vintage 1930's. In the photo it has my 3.5 in S&W Model 51-1 .22 Magnum in it. To its left: Is an S&W Model 19 no dash in a Bianchi #5BHL, not quite as romantic a name as Cyclone, but you can skin a 19/66 out of one in a hurry. Then: My old first year of production S&W .44 Magnum, sans its Milt Sparks, AW200. Below it: Is an El Paso Saddlery Tom Threeperson's, holding a SAA .45. Then: An El Paso Saddlery Tom Threeperson's S&W N-frame crossdraw, with a 6 inch K38 Masterpiece in it. Finally: An old flap military holster, originally brown, died black in 1966 or thereafter to conform with the new regulations. It has my Kahr/Auto-Ordnance WW2 parkerized in it, which has been an outstanding pistol, by the way.

My Bianchi Cyclone, S&W Model 29-2, El Paso Saddlery speed loader carrier, and HK speed loaders loaded with 300 grain Hornady XTPs.

I can draw, shoot and handle the .44, loaded with 300 grain XTPs, almost as fast as a Model 19/66. Which is very fast indeed.

My SAA .45, and El Paso Saddlery Tom Threeperson's and cartridge belt slide. It rides high and tight and is lighting fast. The cylinder is cocked while still in the holster and sub 1 sec draws and on target shots are the norm. My basic drill is to draw and fire two shots from 7 yards, One in the wishbone and one in the teeth. I do it in about 1.5 seconds. Those are 265 grain Keith types over 18 grains of 2400, not milk sop cowboy action loads. The SAA Army out of the Tom Threepersons was, in my opinion, one of the biggest practical advancements in fast draw, SD/combat holsters.

SigArms Revolution STX, El Paso Saddlery Yaqui Slide and mag carrier.

I wear all of them on a belt inside my belt loops. Usually a ranger belt.

run of the mill kingtuk with home adjustments and a Sideguard holster for my 649. Have the same style Sideguard for my 686 plus. Great Holsters. Have a Hopp Custom Leather holster on order for my XDm .45 compact also

She has a nickel plated S&W Model 15 Combat Masterpiece,,,
Here is her holster carrying my S&W Model 67,,,
I styled it after a Tom Threepersons rig.

Here is a holster I made for my 4.5" slab-side Ruger 22/45,,,
I designed the pattern after the WW-II tanker holster,,,
I'm gifting this and the gun to a young friend,,,
He's graduating with a B.S. from Ok State.

It’s even better getting them out of the leather to play with ‘em.

Gotta wonder about guys that like plastic holsters and guns made of unnatural materials
