just joined, started collecting guns for home defense, but now I'm gaining curiosity with all facets of the gun collecting -- guns, reloading, etc.

old hippie loves shooting

Love this forum, joined recently.

Started shooting handguns last year, took a Women on Target class with my 11 yo daughter and was hooked. Took an NRA first steps class, then private instruction, moved up to uspsa and idpa competition, got a ccp, more classes(defensive handgun and range safety officer). Bought a dillon square deal and started reloading in feb.

who would have known that an old hippie would have so much fun

In real life i'm a small animal veterinarian, mom of 4, married 15 years. I'm actively trying to recruit my women clients and friends into the sport.
As a bonus, since most of my clients know about my obsession, I get a lot of thank you gifts in the form of ammo and cabela's gift cards.

I started with a 686 4", then bought an M&P .38 for mothers day, and have a 442 for carry. So far only wheel guns, but I'm planing on "borrowing" my husbands colt .45 for a little while. How many guns do you have to have to qualify as a gun whore?

The BUTT has arrived.

I'm the Big Ugly Tall Texan.

I'm 6-3, weigh 220 and have a face only a mother could love - hence the name.

I'm fourth generation native Texan on my mother's side but only third on my father's side, but my family has been in the US on both sides since before the US existed as a country.

I am a died in the wool Southerner and proud descendant of citizens of the Confederate States of America.

Hardcore Republican with three main issues politically - gun control, abortion and immigration - I'm against all three.

I have been active on a couple of boards. I was a founding member of the shooting forum at Outdoorbest (Guns and Ammo) and am a moderator at Taurusarmed.net.

Favorite rifle is the Mauser 98. Favorite shotgun is a 12-guage pump - either the Remington 870 or the Mossberg 500/590. Favorite handgun is the 1911 in .45 ACP (My current 1911 is a Taurus PT1911 I have named Bully, and it is the best 1911 I have ever shot).

Married for almost 20 years and have two kids, a 19-year-old daughter who gave me my first grandchild in April, and a son who will turn 17 in about two weeks.

I was born and raised in the Piney Woods of East Texas, but have lived the last 20-plus years on the Mexican border - Pecos, Laredo and El Paso.

I was an award-winning newspaper reporter and photographer for about 15 years before starting my law enforcement career in 1992. I have worked as a correctional officer, patrol officer, K-9 handler and entry team member.

I turned Fed in 1996 as an immgration inspector, which turned into Customs and Border Protection Officer when DHS was formed. My legs went South on my a couple of years ago and last November I was moved to a desk job.

Now I spent my work day keeping up with the ordering and issue of parts for the US Border Patrol aircraft.

I've heard a lot about this place from the folks at TaurusArmed and thought I would slide over here and see what's going on.

Oh. I forgot to mention I'm kinda long-winded.

Uncle Buck, Checking in

Hello All,
I stumbled on this forum looking for info on reloading (.45 Colt {long colt}).

I have been shooting for years and recently decided I like the cowboy guns the best. After moving around the world at the invitation of Uncle Sam, I was finally retired a few years ago and decided to pursue my love of shooting.

I have all the reloading equipment I need (not want, just need) to get started. Still have questions about setting up my dies. I never realized how expensive shooting could be.

I am in the process of setting up my own shooting range and I like to talk/converse with like minded individuals and get others opinions on shooting related subjects.

I was a former Security Policeman in the United States Air Force, working both law enforcement and security. Spent my last years working as either a mortuary officers or a cook (Dining Facility Manager) and loved almost everything I did.

Almost 12 years spent in Korea, Japan and points in that direction. Spent too much time in the mid-east. I miss the guys I worked with, but not the stupid thing I was asked to do.

Thanks for making this place seem so nice. I look forward to getting and sharing opinions and learning new things as I go along.

Happy to have found you

I'm looking forward to picking the brains of the other forum members. I am a retired Air Traffic Controller who has begun studying gunsmithing in retirement. I'll still be learning when they put me in the ground. I've been around guns most of my life, but only from the recreational shooter point of view. I have a great deal to learn, and will be on this forum many times no doubt. Thanks in advance to all of those who will be answering my uninformed questions!

Hi my name is mark, I am 35, i like sunsets and long walks on the ........wait wrong forum.

no seriously my granddad has a great gun collection and taught me to shoot as a kid. then i started moving around allot (air force brat) I bought my first gun after my father-in-law got stoned and decided he didn't like me married to his daughter and showed up trying to kick down my door. i decided a Mossberg 500 persuader was better than a bat. after that i got into handguns and love to target shoot. i have to kids son that is nine and loves the ruger 10/22 and a daughter four who cant wait to go with us to shoot. gun safety is a top concern. i want them to know what they are and how destructive they can be before they are at a Friends house and get curios.

wife does not like to shoot, but has no problem with guns.

found this site looking for help with a rifle i just acquired. seems to be a good site.

I'm Grippy

Great name huh? Most folk think it gross but it makes me happy.

I have enjoyed shooting since a kid. It's just fun. My first firearm was a Ruger Single Six I believe it was called. I had to sell it. Then I bought a .22 rifle and it was boring in the sense it had NO personality. I sold it. I was at Woolworth in the early 80's and they had Garands for $240 and M1 Carbines for $120. I bought the carbine cause I could afford it. Still have that beauty.

I saw a 1969 Romanian trainer 22 for $45 at a sport store and bought it. It is great for chipmunks at long range. (they get in the crawlspace). Love the bolt action.

My Pa gave me his .38 Colt Cobra which I can't hit anything with.

Finally my wife has her dad's shotgun a nice old 410.

I went hunting for birds once. I didn't like it. Hunting is fine it's just not for me. I'd rather feed the critters.

I like old guns made with wood.

Introducing GhostDog

Hi folks,

I'm GhostDog, and I'm happy to be a new member of TFL. I live in Ogden, Utah, and I have been a firearms/shooting enthusiast for about 35 years. I'm currently focused on long-range tactical shooting, but I enjoy just about anyting that makes a big bang My current favorite shooting stick is a highly modified Rock River AR 15 that I use for ranges up to 650 yards (see pic below). I also have an FNAR .308 that I use for longer distances. I'm a very active reloader, and I currently work in a peripheral capacity for the ammunition industry.

I'm looking forward to hanging out with y'all!

Hi everyone, been looking at the site for a while now and just joined. I've been shooting rifles and shotguns since I was a kid and have recently gotten into handguns and have been taking my 11 yr old son to the range every chance I get to have some fun. Started him at 6 years old with one of my .22 rifles and he's now also shooting the handguns as well. He's been wanting to try shotgunning and when he's a bit bigger I'll start him on the larger caliber rifles as well. Looking forward to meeting folks here, lots of good and interesting stuff!

hey everyone - ive been reading TFL for a little while now and decided to join in the fun.

I live in northern NJ and I'm kind of new to guns. I got my first gun about 2 weeks ago, a Beretta 92FS Inox 9mm, for home defense/range shooting. Soon I hope to get into trap or skeet shooting.

Thanks!

New to this

This seems like a great site to get questions answered... I've been shooting since I was a young boy, but now have difficulties finding places to go shoot out in the woods, not on a formal range. It's starting to get to be an expensive hobby...

Howdy!!!

Here I go.

I am approaching the half century mark in age. I live in one of the western states. I do some shooting and some hunting. My gun collection is modest. I prefer older sporting rifles.

I work for a government entity.

More on me as time goes on.

Born and raised in northern NY, the Adirondacks, but now live in Michigan. Not happy about it but that's life, and I must admit it's easier to get a CPL in MI than in NY so that's a positive.

An RN, working for govt., & finally decided to join my husband in the handgun dept. He shoots a S & W 686P 4", while I shoot a S & W 640 w/CT grip.

Have found some great info, suggestions and ideas on this site. Thank you for putting this site out there, and keep up the good work.

I grew up in the Dallas area. I'm a USAF vet and father of 3 sons. I grew up in a non-gun home, but have been a gun owner for 15 years now. I shoot when I can and learn constantly. I will be prepared.

Hello, I'm from Mississippi by way of North Alabama. I moved here to go to Veterinary School. Huge gun nut, unfortunetly, right now don't have the funds to fully fund my tastes. But in 3 years, hopefully that will change. I love to duck hunt and deer hunt a little. I also like handguns but right now can't really justify investing in them.
Anyway, thats a little about me.

I'm Ben. Been in the Air Force for about 8 yrs now. Own two rifles. I've come to this site often for advice and suggestions and now I figure it's a good time to finally join.

I have a 1943 Izzy Mosin Nagant. Black and blue bruises can't cure this mosinitis. I seriously love that gun.

I'm just picked up a Stevens 200 in the .223. Should be good for filling the small game gap that a MN would vaporize on contact .

I prolly won't post all that often for lack of experience, but I'll be around.
