I agree with Wyo. I have a couple of both, never had any problems.

But my Ithicas are Ithacas.

For new defensive pump shotguns, I believe this list begins and ends with a variant of the 590. My personal favorite is the 18" M590A1. I own one, and while it is a simple, no-frills gun, it is excellent.

I just don't trust new Remingtons these days - even the Police variants. That said, an older trade-in 870P is still an excellent choice.

One thing I miss about Canada. My 870 Pump 14" barrel. My 18.5" seems like a duck gun!

But my $87.00 ex Sherrif Dept's Mossy, takes 6 rounds. I adorned the butt with SECURITY on both sides, in 1" white letters. Only got to use it on one job, a Jewellery Store.

A show stopper. I still, have my plastic card permission for that.
