Adding a single Rail to an AR
I am just about to order my first AR. The model that I am buying, the S&W 15OR comes with a standard hand guard. I would like to add a single rail under the hand guard to make use of a forward handle and or bi-pod.
Do I have any options to buy a single Rail that can attach to the stock hand guard, or do I have to buy the whole Quad Rail hand guard replacement? |

Maybe : HB2 fits thru existing handguard holes, no drilling required.

There's tons of single rail options out there to bolt onto your standard handguards. Check Brownells. AAC makes a few off the top of my head, but brownells would definitely have a few choices.

Up to you, but I would never use any rail that mounts to a standard handguard for any kind of sight.

He was saying for a forward grip or a bipod...standard handguards will be fine for either option there.
Definately just buy a short length of rail with the screws built in to feed into the holes in your factory handguards. |

Yeah, I understand - and realize now I worded my post poorly. It was really intended for others reading this thread who might be looking for a cheap, quick and dirty of getting a forward rail for a scope mount. These cheap mounts are just fine for bipods and lights, but would be completely disastrous as scope mounts. Probably wouldn't even be stable enough to mount a laser.
