Lock For Mossberg 500

A ccble lock came with my new Mossberg shotgun which is intended to go through the ejector port and loading port. Of course for this to be possible, the bolt must be rearward in a cocked position. Does this compress and weaken the firing pin spring when in this position, and locked, for a long period of time ?
Thanks,
MR.G

Most of my experience with cable locks is on pistols. I don't like the idea of leaving my slide locked back so I ease it down on the cable once it is locked. That still leaves the hammer back, but it is better than leaving everything locked back. As for the Mossberg 500, can you ease the foregrip forward after you run the cable through?
