Modern load for .45 ACP match and defense
I've got some "pet" loads for my .45 1911, using Bullseye, Unique, and Titegroup for various bullet weights. Now I'm wondering if I could simplify to one loading for both pistol match shooting and self defense. And, I've heard that there are some new powders out there which may be better performing than my "old" loads. I know there are a million recipes (too many in fact), but what are the top contenders using modern powder for match/defense .45ACP loads. I can stick with 230 gr. jacketed HP like the Gold Dots.
Any good ideas? |

I like lightweight wad cutter bullets in the 45acp.
Put some clean holes in the perp's lungs, and then out run him. |

I'm doing my part to help keep prices down for you fellows who like the jacketed stuff by not buying them and instead loading my own cast lead round nose bullets, which also assures me that I'll not be caught short if the jacket stuff ever goes away.
My most used load is the timeless classic of 5.5 gr WW-231 Fed150 LP Primer any brass |

Pet powder and bullet for SD
I like 231 for a lot of things but especially 45ACP. My favorite SD bullet is 200gr. Gold Dots loaded at about 950 fps.
231 meters very well and is cost effective and clean burning |
